The Village of Lyons received $7.0 million in bonds proceeds in May, 2005 for the construction of a new Police Station. In July, 2005 the Village Board instructed Village Staff to develop plans to build a new Village Hall, recreation facility, and health department in conjunction with the new Police Station and thereby create a combined municipal complex. Financing for the additional facilities would be obtained by selling current Village assets (the current Recreation Center, Village Hall, and other parcels of land).
As of June, 2006 the Village has spent more than $800,000 in costs, mainly for architectural and engineering costs. The majority of these costs have been paid from interest earnings on the $7.0 million bond proceeds (the Village has earned approximately $680,000 in interest on the bonds) and the sale of a parcel of land. You can review the floor plan for the new Village Hall below.
